La Batonniere Audio Visual Guide
Drawing Room
There is a combined turntable/ CD player system for your use in the drawing room. The unit can connect to your iPhone and other compatible devices via Bluetooth. The syncing is quite straightforward and you should follow the instruction booklet left in the sideboard where the system is located.
Dining Room
You will find a Samsung Smart TV, sound bar, DVD player and Apple TV box for your use during your stay. Please note that there is no terrestrial television attached to the system; all content is internet-based and will require you to have your own Apple and/or Netflix account.
The Smart TV does however contain apps for iPlayer, Channel 4 and ITV. These work intermittently owing to geographical restrictions and cannot be relied upon.
Note that there are three Samsung remote controls; these are marked Television, Soundbar and DVD.
DVD Player
You will find a selection of DVDs inside the large unit in the dining room should you wish to watch a movie during your stay. To use, power up the TV using the TV remote control. Power up the DVD player using the DVD remote control. On the TV remote control, press ‘Source’ on the top right. Select HDMI 1. The rest of the functions, play, stop, pause etc., are as you would expect at home.
Sound
The sound for the TV, DVD and Apple TV comes through the sound bar, not the TV. It is important that the sound bar is switched on using the Soundbar remote control. To adjust the volume, you should use the appropriate buttons on the Soundbar remote, not the control for the TV. If you do not hear any TV or DVD sound, check that the sound bar is set to ‘Optical’. The button is located in the top left hand corner of the remote control under the power button.
Apple TV
To use the Apple TV, power up the TV using the TV remote control. Power up the Apple TV box using the thin silver remote. Press ‘Source’ on the top right of the TV remote control. Select HDMI 2. You can then navigate through the options to log into your Apple account.
Please remember to log out of your account before you leave as future guest may charge content to your account without realising.
Netflix
If you want to log into your Netflix account, we suggest you use the app on the Apple TV box as it is more stable than the one contained within the Smart TV menu. Again, please remember to log out of your account before you leave as future guests may charge content to your account without realising.
Sky News
There is a Sky News App on the Apple TV which can give you live news.
Smart Television and UK catch-up TV
It may be possible for you to watch BBC iPlayer, Channel 4 on demand and ITV via the apps contained within the smart menu on the television.
Select the ‘Smart Hub’ button on the Television remote control to access the apps. Choose the catch up service you wish to watch and follow the on-screen instructions.
These services work intermittently owing to catch-up apps not usually available overseas. Our system is set up to make these apps work in France but they seem to do so inconsistently.
Remote Controls
We would be grateful if all remote controls for the dining room could be left on the coffee table at the end of your stay so that they are easily accounted for by our handover staff. Similarly, the record player remote should be left next to the unit.
